Artek Aalto armchair 403 "Hallway"
Description
Artek's Armchair 403, also known as Hallway, is one of the chairs that Alvar Aalto designed for the Paimio Sanatorium. Its stackable frame and seat are crafted from form-pressed birch veneer, and its armrests have beautiful finger-joint details. Armchair 403 was created as part of the Paimio Sanatorium’s overall project led by Aalto. Instead of using traditional metal tubes, Aalto wanted to use something warmer and more human. Armchair 403 was released in 1932.
