Carl Hansen & Søn’s OW149 Colonial lounge chair is a fine example of mid-century Scandinavian design and one of the best-known works of the Danish designer Ole Wanscher. Released in 1959, the Colonial lounge chair pays tribute to the classic aesthetics of its time in a fresh, contemporary manner. The slender, well-crafted solid wood frame and voluminous cushions create a sophisticated silhouette that invites you to sit back. The charm of the Colonial lounge chair derives from the combination of timeless design and uncompromised comfort – Wanscher’s essential aim was to design a chair that would be slender and stable at the same time. Later, Wanscher continued the Colonial series with a matching couch, coffee table and footstool, which makes a perfect companion for the lounge chair. The products are made by hand in Denmark.
