Description
Cupid, the son of Venus is the god of love, mischievous and playful, a symbol of love in all its complexity, Bouguereau's "cupidon"" is exemplified as a slender youth with feathered wings bathed in a soft golden light with his bow and arrows - strength and power - lie at his feet. In the middle ages Christian influence endowed Cupid with a dual nature as heavenly and earthly love, and in contemporary culture he is shown drawing his bow as an icon of romantic love. French artist Bouguereau was a traditionalist and an Academic whose genre and mythological themes were interpretations of classical subjects with concentration on the female form. The idealized world of Bouguereau paintings brought to life goddesses, nymphs, bathers, shepherdesses and Madonnas in a way that appealed to the Victorian patrons in France and the United States. The authentic stretched canvas replica painting captures the original work's texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand exclusively for Design Toscano. Our replica 4.375"" wide, European style, bright gold-toned, ribbed frame is cast in quality designer resin with an acanthus leaf and floret border that draws the eye toward the beautiful image. Proudly printed and framed in the USA using imported molding."
