His most successful pieces combine simplicity and the Japanese concept of ?wabi sabi? (finding beauty in imperfection). His new works often begin with an idea about colors, almost always coming from a direct experience with nature. Rob?s stone-inspired pieces started with a drawing he made of falling rocks that he encountered high up in the Andes of Peru ? an act of nature had created the perfect composition for him. That fascination has continued throughout his exploration of the Northern Carolina coast.
