FontanaArte Parola table lamp
Description
The Parola table lamp by FontanaArte is the result of a collaboration between Gae Aulenti and Piero Castiglioni, designed in 1980. Seamlessly fusing artisanship and technical innovation, the sculptural luminaire is constructed by combining three different glass techniques: the dome-shaped, adjustable shade is opaline blown glass, the tube-shaped stem is clear borosilicate glass, and the base is formed by a natural crystal disc. Placed inside the transparent stem, a braided textile cord complements the design. Due to the hole in the lampshade, Parola provides direct light diagonally upward, and to other directions it casts a soft, dimmable light. To mark the 40th anniversary of Parola in 2020, FontanaArte launched the table lamp in a special numbered edition of 400 pieces with an opal white glass shade. Each lamp of the special anniversary edition is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
