Story Behind the Art: This stunning rug was made in the Northern part of Afghanistan by Turkoman weavers in the province of Balkh, in the villages surrounding the city of Mazar-e-Sharif. Herat Oriental has been providing authentic handmade rugs to Worldstock for over 10 years, creating jobs for over 2,000 local village weavers in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. The majority of these weavers are women who would not otherwise have the opportunity to work.
