Features: One-of-a-kind antique rug handmade by village weavers in Bakhtiari Knot count of 180 per square inch and a pile height of 0.25 inches Made of 100% wool with beautiful colors including rust, ivory, navy, green, gold, brown, and blue Story Behind the Art: This rug was made using a traditional process that includes cleaning, washing, and dyeing the wool, and then weaving the rug with vegetable-dyed wool. The luxurious wool of the region and the expert craftsmanship of the rug weavers have made these rugs famous throughout the world. Today there are nearly 200 villages in the Char Mahal area, each with village weavers producing unique designs. Due to the handmade nature of our rugs, the size may vary from as advertised by 3-4 inches. Regular vacuuming and annual professional cleaning will keep your rug looking new for years to come. The majority of the weavers are women, who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, and India. As we grow, we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. The community also thrives from rug weaving as the local farmers benefit from raising sheep for wool, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs.
