This particular rug was made by the weavers in the villages of Herat using 100 percent wool from their own sheep. The washing and natural vegetable dying of the wool is done in their villages, making it a truly authentic piece. The handmade nature of our rugs means that size may vary by 3-4 inches. The majority of the weavers are women, and our growth provides more job opportunities for female weavers who otherwise wouldn't have them. The community also benefits as local farmers profit from wool sales and local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs.
