Each knot is meticulously woven by hand, resulting in a knot count of 120 per square inch and a pile height of 0.25 inches. Made of 100% wool, this rug features a beautiful color palette of red, navy, brown, gold, and beige. However, this rug was made by the weavers in the villages of Herat using a primitive method on flat wooden looms that lay on the ground. They used wool from their own sheep and natural vegetable dyes for washing and dying. As a result of the handmade nature of these rugs, their size may vary by up to 4 inches from the advertised size. Regular vacuuming and professional cleaning can keep this rug looking new for years to come. The majority of the weavers are women living in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. With every purchase, we can create more job opportunities for female weavers who wouldn't otherwise have the chance to work. The community also benefits as local farmers sell wool to the weavers and local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for use in rug designs. Imported.
