Features: Unique one-of-a-kind piece of world art Geometric patterns and lively designs Knot count of 190 per square inch Pile height of 0.25 inches Made from 100-percent wool Dominant colors are red, navy, and ivory Story Behind the Art: Due to the handmade nature of this rug, its size may vary by 3-4 inches. The weavers in the villages of Herat crafted these rugs on flat wooden looms that lay on the ground, using wool from their own sheep. All washing and natural vegetable dying of the wool is done in their villages. The majority of the weavers are women who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India, and as we grow, we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. The community also thrives from rug weaving as the local farmers benefit from raising sheep for wool, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs.
