Features: Handmade by village weavers in northern Afghanistan Abstract and cubist Farahan design with modern appeal Made of 100% wool pile using natural vegetable dyes Knot count of 180 per square inch and pile height of 0.25 inches Colorful combination of red, ivory, navy, green, blue and salmon Story Behind the Art: This rug was created by village weavers from northern Afghanistan who specialize in re-creating the original Farahan design. They process the wool themselves prior to making the rugs, washing, spinning and dyeing it in their own homes. Due to the handmade nature of our rugs, the size may vary from as advertised by 3-4 inches. The majority of the weavers are women who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. Purchasing this rug helps create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. The community also benefits from rug weaving as local farmers benefit from wool sales, and local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs. Imported
