All washing, spinning, and dyeing of the wool are done in their homes, and they process the wool themselves prior to making the rugs. Due to the handmade nature of the rug, the size may vary from as advertised by 3-4 inches. The majority of the weavers are women who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India, and creating these rugs provides them with job opportunities. Rug weaving also benefits the local farmers through wool sales and the local artisans through creating natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs. Regular vacuuming and annual professional cleaning will keep your rug looking new for years to come. Please note that color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.
