Description
This rug is a unique piece of world art that will enhance your living space. Kerman produces highly distinctive carpets primarily in highly floral medallion or all over designs. During the 16th and 17th century, these rugs were made for the royal family, commissioned by the king and this is why they are called the 'Royal Kermans'. This rug is a 90-percent wool and 10-percent silk pile with a cotton foundation. The knot count is 150. The pile height is 0.5 inches. This rug has a floral pattern in shades of ivory, gold, grey, purple, dark green, and olive. Product Features: Country: India Primary Color: Ivory Pile Height: 0.25 - 0.5 inch Material: Wool, Silk Style: Traditional Pattern: Floral Weave Type: Hand-knotted Secondary Color: Gold Rug Type: Indoor Feature: Latex Free Rug Size: 8' x 10' Shape: Rectangle Story Behind the Art: This particular Kerman design was re-produced by the Bhadohi village weavers in the province of Varanasi, India. They clean, wash and dye the wool, and then weave the rug with vegetable-dyed wool. Due to the handmade nature of our rugs, the size may vary from as advertised by 3-4 inches. Regular vacuuming and annual professional cleaning will keep your rug looking new for years to come. Herat Oriental has been providing beautiful, authentic, handmade rugs for over 10 years. We have been given the opportunity to create jobs for over 2,000 local village weavers, which helps them to greatly support their families. The majority of the weavers are women, who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. As we grow, we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. The community also thrives from rug weaving as the local farmers benefit from wool sales, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs. The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected.
