Features: Antique 100% wool rug made in the 1900s in Malayer, Iran Traditional allover motifs and exquisite border designs Pile height of 0.25 inches and knot count of 160 KPSI Colors achieved using natural and vegetable dyes Handmade by local village weavers in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, and Iran Story Behind the Art: Local village weavers in the Province of Hamadan, Iran, produce traditional patterns including allover motifs and detailed medallions, and they are also known for making very exquisite border designs. Due to the handmade nature of our rugs, the size may vary from as advertised by 3-4 inches. Regular vacuuming and annual professional cleaning will keep your rug looking new for years to come. The majority of the weavers are women, who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Iran. As we grow, we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. The community also thrives from rug weaving as the local farmers benefit from wool sales, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs.
