Crafted using remnants of antique hand-knotted wool rugs, this rug is a patchwork of intricate designs featuring a knot count of 250 per square inch. Made by village weavers in Lahore, Pakistan, the rug is made of 100% wool with vegetable dyes and has a pile height of 0.5 inches. The rug's warm and rich colors include rust, brown, beige, blue, navy, tan and red. These remnants come from the rug weaving villages of Iran, but the rug is made by village weavers in Lahore, Pakistan. The inconsistencies in the rug and its design are the nature of this textile. Due to the handmade nature of our rugs, the size may vary from as advertised by 3-4 inches. The majority of the weavers are women who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. As we grow, we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. The community also thrives from rug weaving as the local farmers benefit from wool sales, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs.
