Features: Handmade using traditional techniques Made of 100% wool Pile height of 0.25 inches Knot count of 200 per square inch Timeless gray and olive colors Story Behind the Art: The process begins with a traditional graph created by master craftsmen in Bhadohi, India. Then, the design is erased and the pattern is given to the workshop, where the weavers deliberately destroy parts of it to create random holes and gaps. The end result is a beautiful rug with a vintage feel, and no damage from harsh washes that fade dyes. The majority of the weavers are women who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. As we grow, we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. The community also thrives from rug weaving as the local farmers benefit from wool sales, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs.
