Features: Unique, one-of-a-kind tribal design 190 knot count per square inch 0.25 inch pile height Made with 100-percent wool Colors include red, ivory, blue, tan, beige, brown, and burgundy Story Behind the Art: This Balouchi rug was made in a very primitive way by weavers in the villages of Zakini, Taimani, and Kowdani in the province of Herat, Afghanistan. The war and foreign invasion of Afghanistan over the past 30 years have caused most weavers to move to the cities, making newly woven Balouchi rugs rare. The weavers used wool from their own sheep and natural vegetable dyes to create this rug. The majority of the weavers are women who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. By creating more jobs for female weavers through rug weaving, we are able to support the community and preserve their traditions. Please note that as a result of the handmade nature of our rugs, the size may vary from advertised by 3-4 inches.
