Features: Unique and one-of-a-kind Handmade with high-quality hand-spun wool Pure vegetable dyes used for a natural look Knot count per square inch of 180 Pile height of 0.25 inches Beautiful colors of ivory, grey, gold, and tan Story Behind the Art: This Afghan Vegetable Dye Oushak design is made in the Northern part of Afghanistan by Turkoman weavers, as well as central Afghanistan by Hazara weavers. The weavers use natural and vegetable dyes, including madder for red, walnut peel for dark brown, pomegranate peel for light brown, and sparak for yellow. The majority of the weavers are women who live in the villages of Afghanistan and neighboring countries. Rug weaving provides them with job opportunities that they might not otherwise have had, and it also benefits the local farmers who sell wool to the artisans. Note: Due to the handmade nature of this rug, sizes may vary by up to 3-4 inches. Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen. Regular vacuuming and professional cleaning will keep your rug looking new for years to come. Imported from Afghanistan.
