Features: Handmade by Afghan weavers using traditional techniques Inspired by Antique Turkish Oushak rugs Made with high-quality hand-spun wool and pure vegetable dyes Knot count of 180 per square inch and a pile height of 0.25 inches Unique color palette includes black, beige, rust, grey, and brown Story Behind the Art: This rug is crafted in the Northern part of Afghanistan by Turkoman weavers and in central Afghanistan by Hazara weavers. The designs are created using natural and vegetable dyes derived from madder, walnut peel, pomegranate peel, and sparak. The majority of the weavers are women who reside in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. Through rug weaving, we are able to create more job opportunities for female weavers who otherwise would not have the chance to do so. The local farmers also benefit from wool sales, while the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs. Due to the handmade nature of this rug, its size may vary up to 3-4 inches.
