The warp strands are used as the foundation and the weft stands are used as both part of the foundation and in creating the patterns. The weft strands are simply passed (woven) through the warp strands. This particular flat weave rug was made by the women of the Hadji-Mahmood family in the central part of Afghanistan in the Bamiyan Province. They do the entire process of washing and dyeing the wool in their homes. This rug is 100-percent wool. The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen. Imported
