Description
This rug is a unique piece of world art that will enhance your living space. One name associated with English rugs is William Morris, who was an artist, writer, designer, and social activist. His designs included floral motifs with arabesques, influenced by Persian styles. The dominant colors used in William Morris designs were blues and reds. Many 18th century rugs even copied the ceiling designs of the rooms for which they were commissioned. The knot count for this rug is 180. This rug is made of 100-percent wool. The pile height is 0. 25 inches. Colors include ivory, gold, rust, and blue. Country: Afghanistan Pile Height: 0. 25 - 0. 5 inch Product Features: Handmade Material: Wool Style: Traditional Pattern: Geometric, Oriental Weave Type: Hand-Knotted Rug Type: Indoor Feature: Latex Free Rug Size: 10' x 13' Shape: Rectangle Color: Ivory, Gold Story Behind the Art: These William Morris designs were originally made between 1878 and 1881, however these designs are still among the European designs copied by China, Pakistan and India. This particular rug design was copied and re-created by skilled village weavers in the northern parts of Afghanistan. Herat Oriental has been providing beautiful, authentic, handmade rugs for over 10 years. We have been given the opportunity to create jobs for over 2,000 local village weavers, which helps them to greatly support their families. The majority of the weavers are women, who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. As we grow, we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. The community also thrives from rug weaving as the local farmers benefit from wool sales, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs. Factory sealed boxes cannot be returned if opened.
