Story Behind the Art: Reproduced by Afghan weavers in the villages of northern Afghanistan, this antique Turkish Oushak design was made by the Hazara tribes in the province of Bamyan. For over 10 years, Herat Oriental has been providing authentic, handmade rugs to Worldstock, creating jobs for over 2,000 local village weavers. The majority of the weavers are women living in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. As Herat Oriental grows with Worldstock, more jobs are created for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so.
