Description
This rug is a unique piece of world art that will enhance your living space. Tibetan rugs are a modern design worked with traditional techniques and precision. The process starts with master craftsmen in the Bhadohi province of India, where they create a traditional graph for a rug, which is a large blueprint of what will be woven and often quite intricate. This rug is made of 100% wool. The pile height is 0.25 inches. The knot count per square inch for this rug is 180. Colors include brown and black. Story Behind the Art: The design is then physically erased, with the master weaver deliberately destroying parts of the pattern to create random holes and gaps before handing the pattern to the workshop to begin the weaving. The end result is a beautiful rug with a vintage feel, and no damage from harsh washes that fade dyes. Due to the handmade nature of our rugs, the size may vary from as advertised by 3-4 inches. Regular vacuuming and annual professional cleaning will keep your rug looking new for years to come. The majority of the weavers are women, who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. As we grow, we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. The community also thrives from rug weaving as the local farmers benefit from wool sales, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs. The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected.
