The weavers use natural dyes such as madder for red, walnut peel for dark brown, pomegranate peel for light brown, and sparak for yellow. These dyes are created by local artisans who benefit from the rug weaving industry, as do the local farmers who sell their wool. HERAT ORIENTAL has been creating jobs for over 2,000 local village weavers, the majority of whom are women living in villages across Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. With Worldstock's help, HERAT ORIENTAL is able to create more jobs for female weavers who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to work.
