Other than the process of sliding down chimneys, it makes sense that Santa wears white gloves. Just think about it. What are Santa's favorite foods? He likes cookies and milk, both white foods so when they inevitably spill on one of his many stops he doesn't have to worry about staining. When you're breaking into thousands of houses in one night, you don't want to be caught wearing stained clothing. There are no other hands that would look right while driving a reindeer sleigh or carrying a big sack of toys around than the white-gloved hands of Santa. Black gloves? Those are for cat burglars. Green gloves? What, that's a Grinch type of glove! Red gloves?
