Performance Mesh Upper
The upper of the Keen WK450 has been created using a performance mesh, this allows air to flow in and out constantly, helping to remove built-up warm and unwanted air within the shoes. Having a shoe that regularly pumps air out and allows fresher air in, ensures that you will always feel comfortable. Made with a contoured fit that follows the foot's contours for a more secure and comfortable fit, allowing you to wear these all day. Keen has reinforced the shoes with overlays across the toes and midfoot to provide the shoes and the wearer with protection against trail debris, whilst also adding structure to the shoe. The shoes have been treated with a coating that is based on natural probiotics that block the growth of odour-causing microbes; meaning that you will always feel and smell fresh. A padded tongue and cuff feature on the upper for optimal comfort and a traditional lacing system that uses 100% recycled plastic laces help to lock the midfoot down reducing excessive movement.
EVA MidsoleConstructed using an EVA midsole, the WK450 provides comfortable cushioning that keeps you going all day long. The EVA provides high rebound cushioning and comfort to help enhance the level of your performance so you can stay at your optimum level, for longer. Holding excellent cushioning abilities, the midsole absorbs shocks as you move throughout the gait cycle providing resilient cushioning and reducing the risks of potential injury. Within the midsole Keen has included a foam strobel board for an extra layer of cushioning as well as a removable, resilient foam insole for long-lasting cushioning, providing a soft step-in feel that lasts. Increasing the stability of the shoes is a full-length nylon plate that helps to reduce movement on uneven terrain. Finishing the midsole of the WK450 shoes is KEEN.CURVE. This provides a constant curve from toe to heel for nonstop propulsion, guiding you through the gait cycle with ease so you can pick up the pace in no time.
Keen.All-Terrain OutsoleFinishing the shoes and providing ultimate, all-around protection, the WK450 features a Keen.all-terrain rubber outsole. The durable rubber provides a strong grip on the most challenging terrain; it works to protect itself from damage and protect users from losing control and slipping. It is also highly durable meaning no matter what you throw at it, the shoe will perform time and time again. This high-traction rubber promotes grip on a multitude of surfaces while delivering the durability you need to go the distance. Completing the outsole are 4mm multi-directional lugs which provide meaningful traction on tough terrain. The lugs dig into the ground, anchoring you in place. This will also benefit you by acting as a solid base for you to push off from when taking a stride, as well as digging into the ground when braking and changing direction. The shoe is finished with an ESS bruise plate for protection on uneven surfaces.
