Description
A depiction of the interior of the Lapin Agile a famous cabaret club in Montmartre area of Paris. It was produced during the Rose Period and includes a self-portrait of the artist who frequented the club in his youth. Produced in 1905 after Picasso and his friend settled in Paris they found a new social circle to mingle and frequented the club known as Lapin Agile where they would often exchange ideas and drink with other artists. After a traumatic event Picasso was commissioned to create a painting for the caberet club which he received in exchange for food and drinks.
