20'' x 24" Ameilie Beaury-Saurel is most known for her portraits but she painting landscapes and still lives as well. She studied at the Academie Julian and paid her tuition by carrying out administrative duties and managing finances. Beaury-Saurel made her debut in the salon in 1874, which solidified her as one of the most important artists of the salon in 1880. She became a popular portraitist and married Rodolphe Julian in 1895. After his death in 1907, she became director of the academy.
