La Pastiche Young Hare with Versailles Gold King Frame
Description
24" X 24"" Young Hare, completed 1502 by Albrecht Durer, is considered to a virtuoso of this artist. The German to English translation of the original piece is actually Field Hare, which makes sense due to the rabbit appearing to be more mature than the popular title, Young Hare, suggests. Though seemingly simple at first glance, the painting has stirred a fair amount of talk amongst the art community. The painting was first thought to be no more than a study like the many that Da Vinci did to prepare the artist's hands for a larger piece in the works. Experts dismissed this theory with the date being located near the signature indicating that the artist considered this to be a completed piece. The attention to detail that the artist invoked into the painting also creates much interest. Durer was able to layer the different colors giving the effect of sunlight moving from the left side of the canvas, highlighting the fur. Each hair on the rabbit appears to be pointing in different directions, creating a life-like feel. Though the original, located in Albertina, is watercolor we have recreated this masterpiece with oil on canvas ready to captivate everyone who sees it. Frame Description: Versailles Gold King Frame"
