Description
Marimekko's Kaksoset blanket is adorned with a spectacular feline pattern designed by Maija Isola. The blanket is woven with Jacquard knit and made of cotton, 70% of which is recycled. The blanket has fringes on all edges: longer at the ends and shorter at the sides. Maija Isola, who designed the Kaksoset pattern, is best known specifically as a textile designer, but did you know that she also had a long career as a visual artist? During her nearly 50-year career as a painter, Isola often carried out both painting and print design on the same subject. The big cats in the Kaksoset (“Twins”) pattern, designed in 1970, are one of these subjects, and they are repeated almost identical in Isola's painting and in Marimekko's patterns.
