Marimekko Rusakko tray
Description
The Marimekko Rusakko tray is adorned with a bold print designed by Aino-Maija Metsola. The square tray is made of birch plywood, with one side decorated with the print and the other showing the natural beauty of the material. Designed in 2021, the ornamental, somewhat abstract Rusakko print nods to folklore, only revealing its motif upon further inspection: the print depicts a big hare crouching amongst the shrubs, ready to leap at any moment – the name Rusakko translates to "brown hare". Aino Maija Metsola drew the original design on paper with a bottle pen marker and a paintbrush, after which she digitally coloured it with vibrant, strong hues.
