Marimekko Vilja Piekana cosmetic bag
Description
Marimekko’s Vilja cosmetic bag is adorned with a graphic Piekana print designed by Fujiwo Ishimoto in 1983. The designer drew inspiration for the two-coloured chequered pattern from the Finno-Ugric peoples as well as textiles dyed using the traditional ikat technique. The simple grid print is fortified by the bold colour scheme and the asymmetrical borders of the cheques. The beauty bag is made of strong cotton with a nylon lining, and it has dirt repellant on the fabric.
