Run DMC is thought to be one of the most influential groups in the history of hip-hop culture, founded in 1983 by Joseph Simmons, Darryl McDaniels and Jason Mizell; the group became the first hip hop group to achieve a Gold record with the release Run- D.M.C in 1984.
