Alfred ROller was an Austrian painter, graphic designer, and set designer. In his early career ROller was very active as a graphic designer and draughtsman. Roller designed numerous covers and vignettes for periodicals as well as posters for exhibitions. He then expressed an interest in stage design and was employed to design the sets for productions. He continued designed sets for productions and eventually left to be appointed cheif stage designer to the Vienna State Opera.
