Derek Crow was born in Strood, Kent in 1928. He studied painting and drawing first at the Medway School of Art, then at the Royal College of Art; in London between 1945 and 1952. He exhibited regularly in London throughout the fifties and sixties at the Royal Academy, the R.B.A. and the R.I. and also in touring exhibitions in the provinces. An important commission for the National Film Theatre dates from this time. He has held many solo and group shows, his paintings hang in public and private collections in fourteen different countries. He lives and paints in Essex.
