Eugene Louis Boudin was one of the first French landscape painters to paint outdoors. Boudin was a marine painter and expert in the rendering of all that goes on in the sea and along its shores. A lifelong friend of Claude Monet, it was Boudin who instilled the love of bright hues and the play of light on water later evident in Monet's Impressionist paintings. Boudin's growing reputation allowed him to travel extensively, and he continued to exhibit at the Paris Salons. Late in his life he returned to the south of France as a refuge from ill-health, eventually returning to his home at Deauville, where he remained until his death.

Giclee (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original piece. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums, and private collectors. Gallery wrap is a method of stretching an artist's canvas so that the canvas wraps around the sides and is secured a hidden, wooden frame. This method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished painting.
