Description
Vaarnii’s Stilts side table boasts a spare, unassuming design that draws from the unpretentious and sometimes even ascetic architecture of lakeside cabins. These rustic cottages and cabins are common in both Finland and designer Philippe Malouin’s native Quebec. Consisting of a simple drawer standing on four legs, or stilts, if you will, the side table is crafted from Finnish pinewood, whose characteristics include knots and a lively grain. The material is therefore sometimes overlooked in furniture design, but in Finland, its abundance has led to it being one of the most common materials for a variety of fields – including the aforementioned cabins. The Stilts side table is also perfectly sized as a bedside table.
