valerie objects' Inner Circle plate is part of a tableware collection, designed by Maarten Baas, that is uniquely playful and asymmetrical in its design language – someone could even describe it with the word “imperfect”. Instead of the completely straight lines that are normally associated with industrial production, the collection's items are based on Baas's hand-drawn circles that are inherently imperfect. This gives the products and table settings a beautifully organic feel and makes them all the more interesting. “When a chef does the plating of a dish, he does it with great care but avoids perfect geometry. There has to be a certain schwung to it. I created Inner Circle in the same way,” Baas himself has said. The plate is made of dishwasher and microwave proof stoneware, and it is ideal for serving salads and pasta dishes.
