Lernaean Hydra was a monster in Greek mythology, it possessed multiple heads, although the exact number varies according to the source, the Hydra also has regenerative power, for every head decapitated, the Hydra would regrow two heads. The second labor of Hercules was to kill the Hydra, realizing that he could not defeat the Hydra by decapitation, Hercules called on his nephew Iolaus for help. Iolaus came up with the idea to scorch the neck stump and cauterize the wound after each decapitation, his tactic worked and eventually lead to the defeat of the Hydra. This wonderfully crafted cold-cast bronze statue measures 9 inches high, 6 inches long, and 4.5 inches wide, and depicts Hercules wielding a club as he holds the head of the Hydra as it coils itself around his legs. | Veronese Design Bronze Finish Hercules Second Labor Slaying Of Hydra Statue, Standard
