Description
In Greek Mythology, the second labor of Hercules was to kill the Hydra. Lernaean Hydra was a monster who possessed multiple heads, although the exact number varies according to the source. The Hydra also had regenerative power, for every head that was decapitated, the Hydra would regrow two heads. Realizing that he could not defeat the Hydra by decapitation, Hercules called on his nephew Iolaus for help. Iolaus came up with the idea to scorch the neck stump and cauterize the wound after each decapitation. His tactic worked and eventually led to the defeat of the Hydra. This wonderfully crafted cold-cast polyresin statue depicts Hercules, wearing the pelt of the Nemean lion, wielding a sword as he is surrounded by the many heads of the Hydra. The statue has a wonderful metallic bronze finish, with hand-painted accents to bring out the incredible detail. It measures 12.25 inches high, 9.5 inches long, and 10.25 inches wide. It makes a great gift for mythology enthusiasts. | Veronese Design Bronze Finished Hercules Battling Hydra Statue Labors Of Heracles, Standard
