After completing her undergraduate degree and raising a family, Joyce decided to further her education. Though she had never picked up a paintbrush, she explored a sudden fascination with visual arts while attending Glassell Museum School at the Museum of Fine Art in Houston. After several successful stints at papermaking and printing, Joyce turned to creating oil and acrylic paintings. She is fascinated with the beauty of the aging process, and recreates this quality in her work.
